October 2002 Newsletter


This last month has been very busy. With Montana and Micah back in school, and now Hunter taking a class three days a week, Montana in Football five days a week, Micah’s 4-H and after school activities, like computer class,and homework club. In addition to training and bathing and feeding setters. I am just running around all day.
So the best way to reach me is definitely by email, as I can do that in my few spare minutes. Our puppies are doing great. They are really adorable. You can view them on our site www.englishsetter.com under litters. I am still so thrilled that Zion is finished with his Dual. Thank you Terry. He will be headed to California in November for more trials to try to finish his Amateur Field Championship as well. He has earned five out of ten points already.
One person and wonderful dog that I forgot to mention in our previous newsletter was Billy Ellis and Shallom, Ch Set’r Ridge’s Spectacular (Canaan /Annie). Billy and Shallom won Best Jr Handler at Westminster this year (Feb 2002). They have also won several Groups with very limited showing.
Congratulations to Bria and Kelly who recently won two more Specialties to become the English Setter bitch having won the most Specialties. Bria also won several Best in Shows recently to give her nine or ten total. At the Atlanta Specialty Cameron, Set’r Ridge’s Lasting Impression (Shoebe/Snowy) won Best puppy, then on the 28th and 29th of Sept won Winners Bitch , Best OF Winners, and Best of Opposite Sex over a bitch Special. Cameron is owned by Lisa Boughton. Susan Lee and Jane Rapant’s Ch Stylecast Mystical Goldmist (Kismet/ Canaan) recently became a new Champion with Mary K doing a fine handling job. Janet Gray’s Mcgwire Can Ch Pemberly Kiss It Goodbye (Canaan/ Taylor) won Best In Sweeps at the Atlanta Specialty and recently finished his Canadian Championship. Janet Gray and Kathy Brewers Pemberley Legends Kissed By Design (Canaan/Taylor) won Best of Winners at the Atlanta Specialty. Not to be outdone by their sister that Cathy owns, Maxi, who has won three Best of Breeds. Best Jr at Atlanta was Heather Lollis with Ch Set’r Ridge Pemberly Gold (Hadji /Aurora). The day after the Atlanta Specialty Winners bitch from the 6 to 9 puppy class was Gwen (Ben /Nadia) Jenny Wright’s puppy.
Datan, Ch Set’r Ridge’s Designer (Canann /Desi) is now at number fourteen in the Sporting Group and moving up, owned by Bill O’brien and Melissa. Jamey Spowart’s Chase, Int. Ch Set’r Ridge Smooth Operator (Canaan/Remi) has thirteen points towards his Championship and he is a Best of Breed winner. Chase also just won his International Championship in three straight shows with three Best of Breed wins and a Group placement. Ingrid Clark’s Aspen , Set’r Ridge’s Aspen Gold (Canaan /Desi) won Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite over Specials for a major Sept 22nd. Sue Johnson’s Tori, Sevenoaks Birchrun Desert Rain (Canaan /Phoenix) recently won two more points. Katrina Stokes Hunter, Set’r Ridge Shining Star (Ben/ Nadia) have won two points and a Best of Breed. Joy Kealey's Ryelee (Canaan /Jira) won Reserve winners to a 3 pt major on the 7th of Sept and then won Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite on the 8th for two points, at the young age of ten months.
Julio and Flavia’s Prince, Int Ch Brz Ch Noel’s Bayside Prince of Gold (Canaan /Krystal), has won several Best In Shows and is now the #3 Sporting Dog in Brazil. Fernando Mayor’s Maraca Set’r Ridge Blue Agave Legend (Canaan /Desi) is now a Mexican Champion and working on her Central American and International Championships, and then possibly her American Championship.
