It has been a long two months. We are right in the heart of Field Trial season. In the midst of Trials and training, we have thrown in a few shows. Yikes! There just isn't enough time for everything. Sahara, Flair and Zion ran in two trials in March and then off to a dog show with Sahara where she won a Group I and two. We got home at 11:00PM Sunday night and turned around to leave Tuesday for the first English Setter National Field Trial. We loaded up the horses, dogs and gear and drove for hours. We visited our friends on the way down, Skip and Nancy and then Lynnda and Richard. Lost of fun.
Sahara and Zion had clean runs, just not fast enough to win. It was 85 degrees in California, which was a little difficult for our dogs as it has been in the upper 50's, lower 60's and raining here.
We had a lot of fun visiting with our friends. The members of the Monteray Bay English Setter Club did a wonderful job of hosting the National. It was well organized and great food and wonderful people and dogs.
We left mid-day on Sunday to drive home. Twenty hours later (with a few stops for a flat tire on the horse trailer and 40 minutes of sleep at a rest stop) we arrived home on Monday morning. I drove for about an hour, Paul did the rest of the driving. He is awesome.
I got home to a full voice mail and 544 emails. I am just about caught up. If I didn't answer your email, please re-email me. If I missed your win in the newsletter, please re-send it to me.
We have three more Field Trials coming up in the weeks ahead. Trying to get some training time in. I spent yesterday pressure washing the indoor kennel. If you have been trying to reach me, please email me. I will eventually email you back. If you don't hear from me within 48 hours, re-email me. I may have lost your email. Montana (10)is in the heart of school and Baseball practices and games. Micah (13) 4-H and shows, school projects, and Hunter(5) school and training dogs. All three love to ride the horses and go to the field trials.
Don't forget that Zion, Canaan and Hector will be nine years old this year. If you want to use them, do it now before it is too late. We have a few puppies available now. We bred Snowy to Joshua and Desi to Hector.
Off to train dogs and do paperwork.
